Apollo aims to raise $50m in IPO

Apollo Global Management, the US private-equity firm on Monday filed to raise about $50m through a public offering.

In a statement, Apollo said neither its employees nor its strategic investors planned to sell stock through the offering.

The firm had $53.6bn in assets under management at the end of 2009. Of that total, the firmâ??s private-equity business oversaw $34bn.

Apollo had sold 35.6m shares to private investors in 2007 through GSTrUE, a platform run by Goldman Sachs. The stock currently trades at $8 per share.
