Tim Whyte, one of the best-performing London hedge fund managers of the past few years, has left Sofaer Capital after big losses.

Sofaerâ??s Natural Resources fund, which was managed by Tim Whyte, fell 17.4 per cent in one month. The losses resulted from plunging commodity-linked stocks.

The fund recorded a 57 per cent gain last year and almost 79 per cent the year before. The fund is down 16.6 per cent year to date.
